Studying is stressful enough without your brain spiraling: What if I fail? What if I forget everything? What if I never get a job? Deep breath. You got this. Here are hacks designed for brains that like to overthink.
1. The 20–5 Rule
Study for 20 minutes, break for 5. It’s easier to start when you know the timer is short—and your focus lasts longer.
2. Write It, Don’t Just Read It
Your brain remembers better when you physically write or say things out loud. Pretend you’re teaching it to someone else.
3. Move It Out
If you’re panicky, do 10 jumping jacks, stretch, or walk around. Movement tells your nervous system, Hey, we’re safe.
4. Study Zones
Pick different spots for “study brain” vs. “chill brain.” Even a different chair helps signal your body it’s time to focus.
Real Talk:
Studying isn’t about torturing yourself into memorizing—it’s about finding rhythms that help your brain work with you, not against you.
